The Wesley Methodist Church in Downtown Kingston, Jamaica has an amazing history that is shrouded by the stigma of the inner-city community, Parade Gardens, in which it is located. Although described by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust as being "... associated with significant patterns of Jamaica's social and religious history, " this church seems almost forgotten. Nevertheless, the damaged, but magnificent structure still stands tall.

The fate of Wesley methodist seems analogous to that of the residents of Parade Gardens, whose destiny is usually being determined by their address. Parade Gardens, better known as Southside and Tel-aviv, is the home of many talented people, but their potential is frequently stifled because they live in a marginalized community. However, it wouldn't be fair to say that they get no opportunity, as many folks have been through a number of free or inexpensive training programs. Unfortunately, far too often these do not result in jobs, as employers are afraid to take a chance on people from the neighborhood because of the negative news that come out of the area.
If the people, and even Wesley Methodist Church are to progress, attitudes towards Parade Gardens will have to change. Therefore, it is imperative that positive stories come out of the area to give a different and better perspective.
Consequently, many residents are excited about a new documentary TV series,Parade Gardens: Diamond in the Rough that is being produced to feature the talent of the dynamic people and the vibrancy of the community. They believe it will bring them much needed beneficial exposure that will be advantageous in their individual and community development. Entrepreneurs will be able to expand their businesses, artists will get exposure, and the area will be seen from a more favorable point-of-view
